Frequently Asked Questions

When will the Powerwall 3 compatibility with Powerwall 2 feature be launched?
Compatibility will soon be available Q3 via an upcoming software update. (Pilot Program available now for selected customers.)
What system configurations are supported at launch?
Supported system configurations will include up to four Powerwall 2 units, one Powerwall 3 unit and up to three Powerwall 3 Expansion units. When installing on a three-phase grid connection, Powerwall 3 output will be limited to 5 kW. Gateway 1 and Neurio Meter are not supported. Contact your Tesla Certified Installer to appropriately size, configure or upgrade your system.
Will adding Powerwall 3 affect my Powerwall 2 warranty?
No. Powerwall 2 retains its original warranty. Powerwall 3 and Powerwall 3 Expansion units include a 10-year warranty.
What if my Powerwall 2 CEC listing has expired?
When adding Powerwall 3 to an existing Powerwall 2, only the CEC listing for Powerwall 3 will be required. Your existing Powerwall 2 systems will remain compliant. New Powerwall 3 and Powerwall 3 Expansion units will be installed under a new connection agreement and are CEC-listed.
