The biggest Powerwall innovation since PW3’s release, new PW3 firmware arriving Q3 unlocks Backwards Compatibility with the 100k+ Powerwall 2s in market with existing or new Powerwall 3s. This innovation enables existing Powerwall 2 owners up to 54kWh of stored energy expansion per PW2 on their stored energy systems with PW3, equating to greater savings and increased energy independence. What to Expect
Powerwall 3 is not currently compatible with Powerwall 2 systems. However, this future software update (arriving Q3) is expected to enable combined operation between Powerwall 2, Powerwall 3, and Powerwall 3 Expansion units.
Combined operation
Run Powerwall 2, Powerwall 3 and Powerwall 3 Expansion units together once the firmware lands.
Certified installs only
Installations must be performed by a Tesla Certified Installer to ensure safety, proper integration and warranty compliance.
